EXPERIENCE: Over 20 Years in All Aspects of Elevators, Escalators and Horizontal Movers on a National Scale Wherever These Modes of Transportation are Used.

Nicholas J. Montesano started in the Vertical Transportation Industry in 1979, serving as an apprentice for Millar Elevator Industries. Upon completing a four-year apprenticeship training program, supervised by The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 3, Queens, New York, he was appointed maintenance mechanic.

As maintenanc mechanic, his responsibilities for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, as well as interaction with modernization programs, was conducted in such prestigious buildings as the Chrysler Building Midtown, New York. He established particular expertise in performing maintenance and trouble- shooting on state-of-the-art solid state vertical transportation equipment.

In April of 1984, Nicholas J. Montesano joined D.T.M., Inc. Elevator Consulting and Drafting Services, which is a full service vertical transportation consulting company. D.T.M., Inc. was founded by industry respected, Joseph C. Montesano, whose expertise and fifty years in the vertical transportation industry, has led D.T.M., Inc. to become a leader in the vertical transportation field. With the guidance of his father, Nicholas' knowledge in elevator and escalator conception, design and analysis were enhanced to round out his expertise.

Mr. Montesano's present position as President, involves him daily in a full scope of activities in relation to the vertical transportation industry. His responsibilities cover marketing, management, supervision, along with keeping involved directly with field operations and performance of surveys.

Mr. Montesano has had the privilege of speaking in front of such prestious organizations in reference to vertical transportation systems as (B.O.M.A.) Building, Owners & Management Association, National Association of Vertical Transportation Professionals, National Association of Elevator Contractors, New York University Institute of Continuing Education, Resident Building Managers Association, New York Buildings Trade Show, Rockefeller Center University.

Mr. Montesano repeatedly performs presentations on vertical transportation systems, preventive maintenance and operation to many of New York and national leading owners and management companies. Mr. Montesano has had articles appear in numerous industry related publications including the Elevator World Magazine, February, 1999 issue in reference to modernization of the vertical transportation system for one of the leading financial institutions corporate world headquarters. Mr. Montesano sits on many industry related code committees such as the ASME International, A17 Hand And Sidewalk Elevator Committee along with the A17 National Interest Review Committee, Building Owners & Management Association, Codes, Regulations & Government Affairs Committee.

Mr. Montesano participates in industry related committees such as the Professional Committee For Building Owners and Managers Association of New York, the Planning Committee For The National Association of Elevator Contractors and is on the Board and many standing committess for the National Association of Vertical Transportation Professionals. Mr. Montesano's commitment to improve the industry and to protect children is evident in his efforts Elevator/Escalator Safety Foundation (EESF) which is a non-profit organization whose goals and objectives are to train users of vertical transportation in the safe use of the equipment particularly focuses on protecting the children and elderly of our society.
